Microsoft Office 2010 Beta Available

Microsoft has finally announced its newest version of Office: 2010.

The new version of Office comes in two flavors; a full version (which has no price yet), and a stripped down version of the 3 most popular programs. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook now all come with evolved UIs, incorporating the new “ribbon” theme instead of the older menus. Word offers a new “backstage” view which replaces the old file menu with a newer eye catching model, and both Word and Powerpoint now use minor video and photo editing tools within the program.

Powerpoint and Excel also see some substantial upgrades with Powerpoint adding a new “broadcast” feature which lets you beam a presentation to another PC, and Excel adds some smart enhancements like shading the highest numbers in a given chart, and “sparklines” which are word sized graphs that can be added inside charts.

SkyDrive, Microsoft’s online storage feature, is also built right in with 25GB free.

Right now it’s only available to certain users, but you should be able to obtain a copy. 😉
