Xbox 360 Champions Online, the upcoming MMO for the console, was held back back by Microsoft. Will we ever see a MMO for the 360?

The Sony R&D group talks about its new motion controller.

Tech Tribe Gamers Update: August 28th

Tomb Raider “Reboot” – First Images Leaked?

Thanks to fourplayercoop.com and some of his “spies”, it seems like a new Tomb Raider is in the works for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

It looks like Lara may be taking a Silent Hill-like approach on her next game.

It defiantly looks wicked.

Square Enix coming with Mysterious “NEW GAME”

Square Enix recently launched a teaser site of a game titled “NEW GAME.” The teaser site shows the image above with New York City skyline and JFK’s quotes. The site shows nothing else. According to 1up and Joystiq, this “NEW GAME” might be “Front Mission” for Xbox 360. Front Mission will be previewd at E3, and I guessing that’s is when we will find out if this is the “NEW GAME”.

RUMOR: Xbox 360 getting Motion Control

The word is Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is going to get a kickass motion control sensor add-on better than the Wii’s. The rumor came from Engadget and Gizmodo. Do you think this is the same thing from “White in the Air” by Gizmodo, which was posted a couple months ago?

The bar contains two sensors, a camera, and a mic. Unlike the Wii, the Xbox 360’s “sensor bar” will be able to detect full body motion and sound. Here are the list of details (Also refer to image above):

  • Full body and hand gesture control of games / characters.
  • In fighting games you kick, punch, duck, dive, jump and so forth with your body.
  • It also picks up small hand gestures like pinching, grabbing and scrolling.
  • There will also be video conferencing and games with video.
  • Trivia game over the internet with live images of each person playing. When a question pops up, they can clap to buzz in.
  • You can “move objects on your screen” and the other party can see what you’re doing in real time.
  • Sensor detects only the person playing, not folks observing on the couch.

Now here is where the confusion comes in. Two days ago, the PS3 had a similar rumor that I mentioned in this post. It talks about the motion sensor controller that the PS3 is getting and might even introduce at E3. Is Engadget right or wrong about one or both of these rumors?

[Once again thanks to Engadget]

Microsoft sales drop for the first time in 23 years

Microsoft revenues drops 6% to 13.7 billion. This is the first time we have seen a sales drop for Microsoft in 23 years! Microsoft also had a  32% net income drop. The entertainment and devices division has lost $31 million.

On the other hand, Xbox 360 is doing great. It sold 1.7 million units this quarter. That is a 30% year-over-year increase. Xbox 360 is getting around 300k sales every month.

Microsoft shouldn’t be worried about this as much. They should concentrate more on Windows 7 so they can get thier sales increase.
