Activision Threatens Sony: “We’ll Pull Everything”

You read that title right. Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision, has said ” I see the number of games bought per console slowing if the price of the PS3 doesn’t go down. My company might consider dropping the PS3 and PSP in 2010 or 2011 if things don’t improve.”

He also commented on the fact that Activision (the largest independent game developer in the world thanks to Blizzard) had to pay $500 million in royalties to Sony last year, and that the Xbox 360 and Wii are cheaper and offer a better on investment.

23 million PS3 are out there, and with upcoming games with more expensive peripherals such as Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, and Tony Hawk: Ride, it would be difficult to ignore that market completely. And while the PS3 is an amazing machine to people or use it or have seen it in action, you have to admit that it’s not the most economic-friendly console, especially considering the power it uses compared to the 360 or Wii.
